Kielder chooses r//evolution to design its new literature

Northumberland-based r//evolution marketing has just won the contract from the Kielder Partnership to design Kielder Water & Forest Park’s new suite of visitor literature for the 2009 season.

The work includes producing designs for leaflets covering pre visit and post arrival, and a series of specialist guides for walking, cycling, art and architecture and the observatory. The Kielder Partnership also asked r//evolution to come up with a design for a pack to hold and present the literature in an attractive and usable manner.

“We are delighted to have won this work,” said r//evolution’s direct of client services, Gill Burgess. “The Kielder Partnership is a new client for us, but having worked with Hadrian’s Wall Heritage Ltd and the Northumberland National Park Authority we have significant relevant experience. I also believe that the fact we are based in Northumberland and many of our staff are regular users of the Water & Forest Park helped us to come up with designs that were both attractive and appealing to potential visitors.”

r//evolution has also won a number of other contracts recently, including the Association for Project Safety (APS) and Darlington Borough Council’s Local Motion campaign.

“APS is a multi-disciplinary body for people who work in the construction industry to shape and share best practice in health and safety risk management,” said Gill. “We will be looking at their branding and working with them to redesign their corporate communications, enabling them to enhance the service they offer to their members, and ensuring that they receive the recognition they deserve amongst stakeholders nationally.

r//evolution’s marketing work for Darlington’s 2009 Local Motion campaign involves design for outdoor advertising, press adverts, leaflets, flyers and a promotional campaign for schools across the borough, Medal Motion. Darlington was selected by Cycling England as a cycling demonstration town in 2005 and launches a new Local Motion campaign each year.

We’re delighted to have won these new accounts,” said Gill. We believe that we are continuing to win new work in this difficult economic climate because we are offering excellent creative design services, but we’re not charging big agency fees.  Since Christmas we have noticed a significant upturn in demand as even small businesses discover that marketing is absolutely essential if they are to survive and prosper in these challenging times.”

Described by the Guardian newspaper as a ‘symbol of bright ideas in creative marketing’, r//evolution is a full service marketing agency established six years ago. It numbers many well-known names among its clients, including International Paint Ltd, Greggs Trust, One NorthEast, Arriva North East, Northumberland County Council and Bakers Oven.  Leisure sector clients include Hertfordshire Sports Partnership, Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Hadrian’s Wall Heritage Ltd and the Chief Culture and Leisure Officers Association. Client services director Gill Burgess was named Rural North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007 and as Chair of the Tynedale Enterprise Project, was instrumental in Tynedale being selected as the regional winner of Enterprising Britain 2008.
