Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums has undertaken a substantial programme of developments at Arbeia, funded by the DCMS Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund. r//evolution has a strong portfolio in destination marketing and as such has been closely involved throughout the project – creating the WallQuest brand and a range of collateral from a responsive website to discovery and other literature. Having formed a great relationship with the Arbiea team, r//evolution was commissioned to create an engaging suite of interpretation signage for the Arbeia site.
Designs for the interpretation panels were created using existing and new graphics, with clear text, helping the reader to interpret the site swiftly and easily. The panels, featuring areas of the site from the granary to the barrack blocks and latrines are fully in-keeping with the Arbeia Roman Fort brand, and feature funders logos.
Working with a specialist signmaker and installer, r//evolution provided a robust, quality exterior graphic and signage system providing high quality image and text reproduction on a vandal resistant cleanable glass reinforced plastic (GRP) panel with a 10 year guarantee. The panels are solid, one piece and frameless, delivering unrivalled durability and elegance.
The interpretation panels were installed within the tight project timeframe and available budget.
The interpretation panels project was completed on time and budget with a high quality look.
