PR launches - Action Hosting and 15 for 7.

Action Foundation is a North East based charity working to greatly improve the lives of asylum seekers, refugees and isolated people through a range of initiatives including housing projects and free language classes. The organisation helps thousands of people through its projects with support from over 100 volunteers.

The Brief.

r//evolution has worked with Action Foundation to help the charity raise their profile through effective Public Relations (PR) since 2016.

With little to no previous sustained media activity, the charity required engaging PR to help to launch it's latest programme – Action Hosting and encourage people to sign up to the scheme where they would offer up a spare room in their home to someone in need.

This was quickly followed by the launch of the 15 for 7 challenge where volunteers raise awareness by surviving on just £15 for an entire week (including food, healthcare and travel) – a reality for many of the UK's most vulnerable asylum seekers who cannot claim benefits or find work.

The Solution.

R//evolution delivered high quality press materials to regional media including press releases, media invitations and photo stories. In addition, r//evolution's experienced PR team arranged bespoke feature opportunities with target media outlets to launch both campaigns.

Prime broadcast coverage was successfully achieved on ITV Tyne Tees and BBC Look North – both securing lengthy slots on evening news bulletins with senior broadcast journalists Helen Ford and Carol Malia.

New relationships were also formed on behalf of the charity with other major outlets including Made in Tyne and Wear, BBC Newcastle, Sun FM, Heart Radio, Smooth Radio, Metro Radio and Capital FM.

As well as engaging PR, r//evolution has been on hand to advise the charity on general marketing, design and email campaigns - helping them make a greater impact with their target audiences.

Our communications and online team delivered training around PPC activity and SEO alongside best practice for digital campaigns including fundraising appeals and volunteer drives.
